Welcome to the iSites community.
Unfortunately there was an error in submission. Please try again.
  • This is a very vague error.

I am trying to add an RSS feed:

    http://bgviewsnetwork.com/housing/guide/atom.xml

What I truly don't understand is the exact same template is used to generate all the other RSS feeds I have added to our app. I successfully added another feed today with no problem. It validates, so what is the problem here?

    Thanks,

    Ken
  • Wow, so you have gone from not answering my questions on Get Satisfaction to not answering my questions here on Vanilla. This is not an improvement folks.

WHY would I be getting that error?
  • Hey Meancode,

I have discussed your issue with our tech team and they will address it and provide you with a solution in the next 24 hours. Thank you for your involvement.

    Warm Regards,

    Grant
  • Dear Meancode,

My question for you is what is the cost of taking my time and yours with these frequent forum posts? $25? $100? More?

The more posts I respond to the less time I have time to solve actual issues. Is there a way we can make our dialogue more concise that way we can both utilize our valuable skill-sets more productively and efficiently?

    Warm Regards,

    Grant
  • Hi,

I have had the same problem as Meancode.

When adding the following RSS feed: http://ckclinical.co.uk/jobs/rss/

I get the following error notification: Unfortunately there was an error in submission. Please try again.

I have added this RSS feed: http://ckclinical.co.uk/category/news/feed/ This worked absolutely fine.

Both these RSS feeds use them same template so why would one validate and the other not?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

    Kind regards,

    Cat :o)
  • Hello Cat,

Great to hear from you and thank you for the question. I will have my tech team address your feed issue and if you could tell me the title of your app I will get them working immediately. Thanks.

    Warm Regards,

    Grant
  • Hi Grant,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

The title of my app is 'Pharmaceutical News, Jobs and More'.

If you need any more information let me know!

    Kind regards,

    Cat :o)
  • Hey Cat,

I went over every detail in the jobs section of your webpage and I am not sure what webpage you are trying to feed from. Can you send me the webpage link that you are deriving your RSS feed from please?

Also, I put my tech team on this and while I am troubleshooting they will in all likelihood figure it out before I do. I hope to hear from you soon with the URL address. Thanks.

    Warm Regards,

    Grant
  • Hi Grant,

    Many thanks for your message.

The RSS feed is basically just a feed from our job search feature on the website: http://ckclinical.co.uk/search/

The RSS feed URL is this: http://ckclinical.co.uk/jobs/rss/

Let me know if you need any more information!

    Thank you,

    Cat
  • Grant,

I am not really sure how I can be more concise. Lets try this:

    iSites App Name: BG Views
    Problem RSS Feed: http://bgviewsnetwork.com/housing/guide/atom.xml

Note, the template that generates that feed generates EVERY OTHER FEED that I have included in my app.

Is that better? All that we seek here is a "hey thanks for posting we are looking into it" and forgive me if we are all a little quick to judge but lots of questions went WEEKS and MONTHS with no feedback on the Get Satisfaction site.

    Ken
  • Grant,

Today when trying to add the feed again, it finally worked! Not sure if you did any thing but thanks! I tried for a few days to add it and had given up.

    Ken
  • Hey Ken,

Thank you for hanging in there with us. We worked through some bugs last night in hopes of fixing the RSS feed read issue. Great to hear that it worked for you this morning please send any more questions or concerns my way.

  • Hi Grant,

I've just tried inputting the RSS feed in again and it is still coming up with the same error code.

Are you any closer to fixing the problem?

    Cat
  • I am putting in a valid rss feed that I use on my site http://fashionablyaustin.com/blog/feed/ and your form says "there was an error in submission" I've tried it and another valid feed several times and cannot get it to setup. I would like to pay you money for a service. Looks like this is a common problem - can you guys deliver?
  • I am now having the same issue. Im using a feedburner url which has been confirmed as working and now i cant add the feed to my app. The name of my app is "This Week in Blackness"
  • Hi,

I'm still having the same problem. Why is this not resolved yet? I have been waiting nearly 3 weeks.

So far it looks like my RSS issues have been sorted by something you must have updated on your end.

    Thanks!

    Ken
  • Hey Ken,

    Thanks again for the feedback.

    Grant
  • I am now having that issues with my new app (started yesterday) called Power Cheer Calgary. It added one feed but now won't add the second twitter feed and I get that error message. I also posted in support.
  • Hey Myra,

Can you try testing the feed to ensure that is valid? Try clicking the blue link under the content tab called (W3C Feed Validator). This will allow you to paste in your feed and check and make sure it is in the correct format for the app. Thank you for your question, I will check back with you later to see if the issue is resolved.

    Warm regards,

    Grant
  • Hi Grant,

Yes the feed is valid. It is a twitter feed...pretty much exactly the same as the feed I put in that works.
  • Myra,

If you are having with a Twitter feed, try getting the feed from a service instead. This may get rid of the error.

    Best,
    Yamini
  • I tried. The error still exists.
  • Myra,

What's your app name? I'll look into your account and get back to you.

    Yamini
  • Power Cheer Calgary (instant app). I'd like to pay and get it up and running as soon as possible.
  • Myra,

I tried adding my own twitter ID to your account and it worked fine.

Can you tell me what specific feed you're looking to add?

    Best,
    Yamini
  • I am receiving the same error when attempting to add a news feed.

The app name is Grassroots Motorsports App.

    The feed link is: http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/feeds/forum/

I tested it vs the W3C feed link and it came back as a valid feed link.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.
  • Hello Xceler8x,

Thank you for using our support fourm. I've been all through Grassrootsmotorsports.com and the site looks great! Unfortunately our system does not yet support an interactive forum like the feed you are trying to add. Your site, though, has a lot of good content especially under the articles tab. I might recommend using feeds for your articles with the cool images. Hook in your audience with those and utilize our Shout Out feature to create your forum within the app itself. Hope this helps.

    Warm Regards,

    Grant
  • Thanks for the update Grant. I will consider your suggestions.

  • Good to hear, let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

  • Hi Grant,

I am having the same problem with my blog. I've tried importing this address http://www.improvewithchris.com/apps/blog/entries/feed/rss and this address http://www.improvewithchris.com/apps/blog/ I also tried feedburner and that was not accepted. What type of feed do I need for this to work? Thanks!

It seems to be on there now.
    Thanks!
    Myra
  • Hi Yamini,

Those aren't my acctual feeds. Those were blogger feeds I built just to test blogger with it. my blog is http://www.improvewithchris.com/apps/blog/entries/feed/rss and that still isn't working. thanks for responding though! I took off the other feeds so they shouldn't confuse you, sorry.

    ~Chris
  • Chris,

I knew I said I'd have a solution for you today but my tech team got stuck firefighting something else instead.

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to push this to early next week. We will get it to work!

    Yamini
