New here...started my app at otters.isites.us

I have a couple of questions:

- Can you NOT reorder your categories?

- I added the RSS feed for my Vimeo videos. When I visit one in the app, and press Play Video, it takes me to vimeo.com/megaloop.swf which does NOT play my video. Can that be fixed/changed?

That will be confusing to my visitors.

- Is there a way to give Push notifications to my visitors? We have an Alerts page to tell folks when school is canceled due to weather. Would love to be able to do that with Push notifications. How?

- As a public school, I'm not so sure I want people to be able to freely comment on our content, at least without moderation. Is there way to disable that?

- How long does it take for RSS feeds to update? Does YouTube ever have issues with their RSS feeds? I uploaded two new videos to our channel today (username: isd544) and they are NOT showing in the app.

- I am an iPhone user and know iPhones. Just visited otters.isites.us on a droid, and was NOT prompted to install the app, but rather got the same page I'd see in a desktop browser. Am I doing something wrong?

I think I'm beginning to understand how the layout works here. Been also trying widgetbox.com's app builder. There are a few features there I like (such as HTML in custom posts), but also like what you have going on here.

Hi Jesse,

I have answers to most of your questions

a) Not sure what you mean by not reorder categories? You can reorder them or you can choose not to have any?

b) Vimeo won't work because the videos they send in the feed are flash based. Hence they wont work on any phone.

c) We do have push notifications. Currently they work with Quick Post in the app.

d) We have comment moderation. Its built into your dashboard.

e) We have been able to narrow down the update speed significantly but in the worst case, it should not take more than a few hours to upload. If you are seeing greater delays, something might be wrong and we'll need to look into it. We have picked up your YouTube videos - all except the 2 day :S I will flag this for our tech team to look into.

f) The Instant app is currently not enabled for Android. So you saw the right screen. If you are ready to compile your Android app, just mark the checkbox on your Creatives page, we will compile the app and send it to you for you to submit to the Android Market.

Hope this is helpful! I will flag the youtube update lag and find a solution.

I KNEW I saw some moderation area...thanks for point that out to me again. Very nice.

I added a comment to an article last night, and it posted immediately. I don't see it in my moderator panel. Do I need to "activate" moderation somewhere?

Also, I can indeed watch vimeo videos on my iPhone. I go to www.vimeo.com/isd544 and there they are! :-)

As for re-ordering categories...when I go into Design> App > Categories, I see the list of categories, but can't change their order. Is that possible?

Oh, do you mean that Vimeo's RSS feed does not pull the HTML5 version of their videos, only the Flash-based version?

Yes, Vimeo's RSS feed only pulls the Flash-based version.

We have had this trouble in the past with other accounts too - the best bet is for you to reach out to Vimeo. We have tried to in the past, but not been successful.
